John was born in london in 1947. He exhibited throughout London during the 60's and early 70's and moved to County Kerry in southern Ireland in 1977 with his wife and son.
He took a break from painting for a few years, but soon found inspiration coming to him from the people and landscapes of Kerry. This resulted in a very colourful and impressionistic style. John said; "The feelings for my surroundings, coupled with images and symbols from the past, filtered into the content of the new works." John works in all media including oils, acrylic and watercolour. His work ranges from flat paintings to freestanding figurative sculpture. John also uses recycled materials and found objects in his work. He describes his work as "an emotional and sensual form that grows organically on a blank canvas." |
